BIOGRAPHY

The band originally started under Mathieu Tassie's guidance for the Math Tassie Project at the 37th Edition of the  Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2016. They recorded an album Ecotones at Loud House Recording in 2017.

Four members come back to form  Citron Indigo, presenting Colors in Motion. An entire originals album that were contributed by Nicolas Laurencelle, Mathieu Tassie and François Gallant. Recorded on March 31st and April 1st of 2018 at the Studio Fast Forward. The release date is yet to be announced. Coming soon!

Mathieu Tassie

Saxophone

Mathieu Tassie is from Ottawa. He completed an environmental study cycle at the University of Ottawa in 2013. He moved in Montréal to do his music major, jazz specialization at Concordia University that he completed in 2017. He won the Charles Ellison Award Scholarship in 2016, he was then invited to play at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal the same year. Mathieu Tassie gathered a septet for his Capstone recording project called: Ecotones released in 2017. Working full-time while busking in the metro, he was  invited to play with the Silveresque Quartet at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2017.

Nicolas Laurencelle

Guitar

Nicolas Laurencelle is from Varennes, Québec. Self-taught for the 10 first years of his craft, he was taught a few chords by his father and never stop practicing, or playing throughout his teen years. He got his Bachelor in Fine Arts, jazz studies specialization at Concordia University in 2017. He won the Charles Ellison Award in 2017 which brought him on the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal scene with his band Silveresque Quartet, a tribute band to Horace Silver. He also performed with other bands such as Math Tassie Project, The Old Fashioned Quartet featuring Laura Anglade and the Katherine Paradis Quartet. Nicolas solo traveled in Indonesia for 2 months in 2017. Back from his trip, he gathered this band to form the Citron Indigo project. A collection of Nicolas, Mathieu and François's compositions. They recorded the album in 2018 at the FastForward Recording Studio.

François Gallant

Bass

François Gallant is from Moncton, New-Brunswick. He started playing bass in his early teen. He moved in Quebec in 2010 to get his music diploma at Cégep de Drummondville and then his major in music, jazz specialization at Concordia University. He performed with many bands on the Montreal scene, such as the Katherine Paradis Quartet, Silveresque Quartet, Carolyn Fe Bass 'n Voice Duo, and more...

He moved back to Moncton in 2018 to get a cybersecurity degree and play with folks from his hometown. His contribution to the project was essential and will never be neglected.

Stratsimir Dimitrov

Drums, vibes, Udu

Stratsimir is from Haskovo, Bulgaria. He moved in Montreal in 2010. He got his Bachelor in Pop and Jazz Drums at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2002 and his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Specialization in Jazz Studies at Concordia University in 2019. As well as being a multi-instrumentalist, he performs in many groups, such as the Dave Turner - Next Generation quintet, Member of “The Generations Big Band”, Mathieu Tassie quartet and also choirs: Member of The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul choir, Member of Voces Boreales Choir. He also work as a sound and light engineer at The Church of St. Andrew & St. Paul.
